Vinyes Tortuga visit Manchester
Thursday 8th June! Get it in your diaries as we are lucky to be joined by Dido of @vinyestortuga along with Fernando of @otrosvinos for the evening.
…Their gorgeous wines have been shelf staples since our opening and have been enjoyed by many of you. We can’t wait to welcome @vinyestortuga and @otrosvinos and learn together!
As always, no reservations!
Having drunk and worked with Vinyes Tortuga’s wines for a few years now, this event really excites me! First of all, their origin story for how they became Vinyes Tortuga is nothing short of inspirational for young people who have a genuine interest in wine. Not to mention Dido and Jurrian’s wines… wow!! So well-balanced, always has beautiful textures and incredibly juicy - get yourself to Flawd for this one.
Is Austin, TX the new natural wine capital of the US?
Low-intervention wine has undoubtedly made an impression on the Austin beverage scene, and if you're wondering why our city is so willing to embrace this style, the experts all tell me that Austin's independent and creative spirit perfectly suits this most ancient and natural type of winemaking.
Honestly, this comes as a surprise to me. Usually, I would have imagined states like California and New York to be the industry leaders, in pretty much all industries. This is a perfect example of the stereotype I have been blinded by when it comes to the state of Texas as a whole, the idea of guys and gals wearing cowboy hats, sipping on natural wine is actually pretty sick.
“Why is natural wine in decline” - Vine Pair
We’re talking about the ex-filmmakers who buy up cheap grapes, crush them under their bare feet, and neglect the juice in an open vat, leaving it exposed to ferment away in a cluttered, musty garage. Some call the product interesting and refreshing, while many enthusiasts are left scratching their heads, wondering how a “flawed product” can amass such a legitimate following. Is this actually a question of good winemaking, or one of clever marketing and label design?
I mean, there’s not much to add to this because it’s just completely contradictory considering they also post features like ‘the ideal by the glass list’ curated by a “natural wine pro”. I smell clickbait…
Manchester’s Tutto Wines x Hector’s x Isca collab!
A collaboration across 2 cities between Hector’s, Isca and Tutto wines.
Join us first for the London leg at Hector’s on Sunday 4th June from 2-8pm. Isca will be bringing a taste of their menu and Caro will be helping to choose the wines.
Back up North at Isca on Monday 26th June from 3-9pm. Some of Hector’s classic plates will be available with wines chosen by Jimmy and the team.
Isca, arguably one of North’s finest natural wine establishments, founded by a legend of the game - Caroline Dubois, collaborating with Hector’s, whose reputation extends far and wide past its London-based N1 postcode is a match made in heaven if you ask me. The wine, food and vibes are not to be missed at Isca on the 26th of this month!
