Natural Swill - A Black Owned Natural Wine News Outlet
A pivot of the general theme to this newsletter.
Welcome back to the wineletter!
Over the last few months as this natural wine newsletter has picked up momentum, a little voice in the back of my head has been getting louder and louder. So much so, it got to a point where I decided to not only give that voice my full attention but to speak about it with my closest people.
After some tough, honest conversations I have come to realise that the voice and its message were deeply validated.
Here’s how I spoke about my decision on Instagram -
An emotionally-lead realisation that literally fell out of my head and onto the screen in a matter of minutes after work one night. All things considered… you can tell I’ve been feeling some kinda way about the topic.
So, going forward, the Swill Wineletter and all of the social media channels will be fine tuned to shine a brighter light on diversity within the natural wine scene and promote those people doing their bit for the movement.
I’m putting this plea out there to all of you ;
If you know of, or are close friends with, or are family with anyone of a different ethnicity that are involved with natural wine, be it a winemaker, or a sommelier, please reach out to me so I can get in touch. Believe me, I too will be doing my homework but I think I’m gonna need your help with this one.
It’s clear to see there are very few of us black folk, or anyone of colour in the natty wine scene and I want to change this by giving them a platform to inspire other POC and progress this movement to a more inclusive space for everyone.
Salut!
